If you have any experience in the RV world, you have no doubt heard about the diesel pusher. They are large. They are luxurious. They are expensive. So, what makes people but a motor home that cost more than my first house?
Why a diesel engine is better
These big daddy motor homes can really chew up the gas. However, a diesel engine is more fuel-efficient and in some places, diesel fuel is cheaper than gas. Whether the price of diesel is cheaper than gas is beside the point. The fact is they get better miles per gallon than your RV. This is even more apparent when you travel long distances.
Of course, pulling a travel trailer, pop-up, or even a fifth wheel behind your own vehicle will get even better gas mileage, which brings us to the critical element of size.
Do you need more room?
If you are a weekend traveler, then size may not be an issue. Practically any RV will have anything a weekend travel will ever need. They all will have a suitable bed, some basic bathroom, and some way to cook.
If you go out on the road for extended periods, then you need to start thinking more room. You will need more clothes, more food, and more living space. If you want to go out for a month or more, then you will want even more accessories. A Class A diesel pusher can accommodate a small washer and dryer. With that and the practically full size refrigerator, you could live in the RV comfortably for months.
Still, you may wonder is the extra space worth the extra money?
Make your RV a home away from home
What gets people to spend the money on a diesel pusher over any other motor homes are the accommodations. How much do you really want your RV to reflect your home? It will always be smaller than your home but it can have all the comforts of home.
The Class A diesel pusher is known for its luxury. Satellite dishes, four door refrigerators, stoves, showers, bathrooms bigger than closets, and leather interior is just the beginning of add-ons you can have. These are like a home on wheels. They really do have everything including the kitchen sink.
When it comes to purchasing a Class A, it is less about the money and more about the luxury. When you travel in a diesel pusher, you are taking a 5 star accommodations with you wherever you go. They really do transform a camping trip into a wilderness adventure.
